Frequently Asked Questions

Does IndexerLabs use AI?

Yes, IndexerLabs employs the use of custom-trained Artificial Intelligence (AI) models to automate the process of indexing. We've custom-trained an AI model on 1,000 real-world indexes, which significantly improves accuracy and indexing taste. Read more about this model, IndexLM-1, in our blog post.

Is my data secure?

Yes, and significantly more so than other AI products. We host all our models on our own servers, so third parties never get your data. We do not send your data to any third parties like OpenAI or Google. We permanently and automatically delete all uploaded documents from our servers after 24 hours, and never use them for improving or training our product under any circumstances.

How accurate is an index produced by IndexerLabs?

Two answers:

1. For subject indexing, the short answer is: yes, the quality of the indexes that we produce are measurably equivalent to their human counterparts. The longer answer is that even between two highly skilled and experienced human indexers, there can be a fairly wide (up to 50% and higher) variation in structure and term selection for any given index. The nature of subject indexing is such that it is difficult to measure the exact "accuracy" of an index (aside from the matter of ensuring page locators are accurate). However, there typically should be a substantial overlap in coverage of significant terms and core themes within a given manuscript, under the same page constraint. Our SubjectBench evaluation test sets measure the accuracy and usefulness of our generated indexes against their human counterparts, for books not included in their training dataset.

2. For scripture indexing, our systems score at an average of 98-99% accuracy on our ScriptureBench evaluation test sets when compared against existing human indexes. You can read more about our results here.

How long does it take to generate an index?

Scripture Indexing usually finishes within 30 minutes of upload.
